Longer lasting street posters using Correx board
If you are looking for a more durable material than paper or card-board for your street posters then Correx board or Coruplas is Correx board is a twin walled extruded polypropylene material with flutes. It could be described as a "plastic cardboard" and it is widely used for street posters. Information is normally screen printed (silkscreen printed) onto the correx board with a specially prepared solvent ink but can also be applied in the following ways:

Correx Board ColoursCorrex boards are available from signage suppliers in South Africa, mainly in white and two variations of yellow. (Bright yellow and Golden Yellow) Correx board thicknessesBoards are available in sizes:
The most commonly used thickness for printing posters is the 3mm option when using A1 sized boards or smaller but a 3.5mm thick board provides a more sturdy option and is useful in certain circumstances especially in windy conditions. Thicknesses greater than 3.5mm is not commonly used for street posters. In recent years, some manufacturers of correx boards have made a variation where the flutes of the material are not straight but in the form of a wave. These correx boards are commonly referred to as “S-correx” and provides a less flexible board that is more advantageous for street posters than straight flute correx boards. Correx board sizesCorrex board manufacturing sizes vary and although the material is easily resized, it is most economical for printing purposes to use material in the sizes supplied from the factory. Following are the most commonly available factory sizes (varying from distributor to distributor)
Print sizesAlthough correx board are available in the sizes mentioned above, print sizes are restricted by machine size.We are able to print to a maximum of 900mm x 700mm in-house. Printing Colours

Adhering to municipal regulation on Outdoor Advertising in South AfricaWhen you decide to advertise on any outdoor medium including street posters, it is wise to consider the regulations imposed by your local municipality. Since we are situated in Centurion that falls within the Tshwane Metropolitan area the regulation as referenced in the article on this website is used as an example of the type of rules that apply to the use of street posters. I don't have experience on UV protection except that we use transparent vinyl to protect digital prints. I have also seen people use transparent lacquer as a UV protection. Unfortunately I don't have a brand name or any information on this.
Depending on how big your wall panel is, it may be a solution to cover it with a transparent adhesive vinyl (of a polymeric kind)that should give you a certain period of protection.
Chris
How do I make it last longer in the sun. Can I varnish it with a water based varnish in an attempt to protect it against UV? Can you recommend a commercially DIY varnish?
The most frequently used size that we supply is the 600mm x 400mm signs. A price list is available at the bottom of the article called: "Screenprinting Prices"
